Well-dressed jazz punks with a passion for classic and neo soul, Jazz Party play RnB inspired tunes with a contemporary bent. With Darcy McNulty’s wailing saxophone leading the horns section, the silver-tongued backing vocals by the jazzboys form the perfect backdrop to the almighty roar of lead lady and soul diva Loretta Miller. This is Jazz Party.
Queen of Hearts Mariachi is an all-female band drawing from the Mexican Mariachi tradition. Breaking all paradigms, these ladies from Latin America and Australia, do not just cover traditional classics but also write and perform original music. Their love for Mexican music unites them and creates a rich harmony of lyrical drama.
The voice of Mon Coeur is an idiosyncratic journey through melody and lyricism. Tales of love, loss, the search and the journey delivered in resonant alto. Her earthy mix of pop, folk and jazz vocal styles is raw and floral, reflecting her upbringing in the Central Victorian Goldfields.
Chimpanzee is a Melbourne-based group whose lounge-room folk, abstract poeticism, and subtle rhythms have enveloped them in a sound uniquely intimate, but distant. The collaboration features songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jimi Gregg, Jackson Dahlenburg, Pierce Morton and Miles Bedford.
